Each year, some of the world's most significant collector cars arrive in Monterey, California, for Pebble Beach Automotive Week. For the participants of the Pebble Beach Motoring Classic, the journey is part of the experience.

Every build begins with a reason. For the 1979 Mercedes-Benz 450SLC, the goal wasn't to create an untouched replica collecting dust in a garage, but an authentic rally-inspired machine built to be driven. With a Lufthansa-inspired livery, weatherproof vinyl interior, and a custom exhaust system, it tells a story of purpose over perfection.

Scottsdale has long been a proving ground for the collector car market. The Scottsdale Concours on January 18, alongside Barrett-Jackson’s opening day, kicked off the week. More than 100 rare and exotic cars competed for class honors and Best of Show, setting the tone early. With just three auctions instead of the usual five or six, the focus was tighter, the signal clearer, and the results easier to read.
